Here's a few last pics of the tree. Unfortunately, the Arboretum had to take down our tree early, as it had become a fire hazard. I didn't get back to take more photos, as it is usually I do something during this holiday week. Thanks to all the Tree Elves that helped create these lovely trimmings
The MN Herb Society (formerly the Twin City Herb Society) was founded by Helen Olsen in 1963 to encourage the study, growing, & use of herbs. We are involved & committed to the MN Landscape Arboretum, maintaining the Kitchen Herb Garden, the Fragrant Herb Garden and the Knot Garden. We continue to be a group of Herb Enthusiasts that are well known, active, forward looking, fun loving, & interested in bringing our knowledge of herbs to the public.

The Tree of the Seasons
Minnesota Herb Society volunteers tend the Arboretum’s herb gardens in the summer and, in the winter, decorate one of the holiday trees that grace the Great Hall of the Oswald Visitor Center. This year we have chosen “The Seasons” as the theme for our tree. Herb Society members have created ornaments from a variety of natural materials, including leaves, branches, vines, pressed flowers, bark, seeds, and pinecones, in addition to felted and other handcrafted decorations. Each season – winter, spring, summer, and fall – is represented in a quadrant of the tree, spiraling down from the ever-present sun at the top.
Summer passes and one remembers one's exuberance.
Autumn passes and one remembers one's reverence.
Winter passes and one remembers one's perseverance.

A little Holiday Cheer
A little tea, coffee, and some delicious food was enjoyed by the Herbies at our annual holiday party. While the weather hasn't been cooperative to get us in the Christmas spirit, the party did. Thanks to Jan for hosting.

The Tree is Up
The Tree Elves were busy last week as the tree went up and was decorated. We divided the tree into the Four Seasons, with burlap ribbons separating the seasons. The tree turned out beautifully with each season showing it's colors. As we were leaving, we overheard two visitors comment on our tree. One told the other that the MN Herb Society made all the tree decor. The other commented "They live in the woods". Too funny. I guess the Tree Elves is a proper nomenclature for these Herbies.

A few last minute creations
A couple tree elves were in the greenhouse finishing the last of the tree decor. Ginko & sage butterflies, maples leaf snowflakes, and those beautiful dried zinnias on birchbark. The tree is up and resting, awaiting those elves to don it's boughs.

The Herbie Elves are busy, busy, busy
The MN Landscape Arboretum working Greenhouse has been a flurry of activity this week. The rain had not dampened these Herbies from making the natural decorations for the tree. Check out some of the creations.
